It’s too bad that he couldn’t ever make another album like this one. With Dr. Dre making the beats and lyrics that were more poetic and less “gangsta” (unlike most of his contemporaries at the time), the DOC dropped a bomb on us in ’89. This album is near perfect; soul and funk sprinkled with a rock edge. A must have.

First song: “Gimmie Shelter.” Awesome. Last song: “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Amazing. Everything in between: Rock Cowboys on Drugs! The Stones put out an album that danced between genres while summing up the ’60s with music that reflected the turbulent decade as it was coming to a close. Good stuff.

Put it on an turn it up! Cheesy, I know, but that’s how this album makes me feel… like I should be listening to it even louder than it is probably being played currently… even the ballad-y stuff and the weird stuff and everything in between… turn it up, especially the opening track, “Feel Good Hit Of The Summer,” and the song “In The Fade.” A fantastic album from a band that, in my opinion, only makes fantastic albums.
