RIP Michael…

I just heard Slash playing the guitar solo from this song, and I thought to myself that everybody else deserves to have the warm fuzzy feeling that I get from this song as well. I miss this Michael most of all…

R.I.P. Michael.

It seems like only yesterday that I was staring at a picture of you and a tiger and thinking about how awesome it would be to own a tiger…

Solvent – “Loss For Words”

Toronto has a lot of cool stuff going on… it’s one of the few places I have talked about going to, but I have yet to make the trip. They’ve got professional sports, a great music scene, and socialized medicine.

Awkward pause. Crickets.

And they also have Solvent. Highly polished, synth-poppy goodness.

If it wasn’t so cold, I might move up there.

Go Buy Some New Music!

Here’s what came out today that might be worth your time…

One I’ve been waiting for anxiously is the new Chemical Brothers album, “Further.” I am totally stoked about this album.

Eminem – “Recovery” comes out, but you may already have that one…

The Roots – “How I Got Over” promises to be good…

Herbie Hancock – “The Imagine Project” this new album features a metric ton of guest stars- including Dave Matthews, Susan Tedeschi, John Legend, Derek Trucks, India Arie, Chaka Khan, Seal and Jeff Beck, among others- promises to be well performed. If it doesn’t get the standard mass appeal bland-izing that most projects of this magnitude get, this seems like an interesting prospect…

… and speaking of the Derek Trucks Band… kind of… their new album, “Roadsongs,” is out as well…

Cyndi Lauper – “Memphis Blues” … I really don’t know what to say here…

OK, so here’s some other stuff you should know about:

Macy Gray – “The Sellout” (anybody? hello?)

Robert Randolf  & The Family Band – “We Walk This Road”

Sarah Harmer – “oh little fire”

Uffie – “Sex Dreams and Denim Jeans”

What? Miley Who?

Veronica Falls – “Beachy Head”

Veronica Falls – Beachy Head from Philippa Bloomfield on Vimeo.

I had to Google “Beachy Head” and “Veronica Falls” after I heard this song. It turns out one is a place and the other is a band from Scotland… who knew?

So, I dig this song. It sounds like 60’s surf rock. Cool. It’s really lo-fi. Cool. It probably sounds best on vinyl. Bonus points.

“Veronica Falls.” Not a place. A band.

I think I’ll start a band called “Beachy Head.” Any takers?
