Another new M.I.A. track, and there is definitely a different feel from the previous post. This one is way more pop friendly; I don’t think that necessarily means this song is better, just different. I’m feeling it!
Lena Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010)

Read about this amazing singer, actress, and activist here.

A one-of-a-kind woman who knocked barriers down for many, many women of color in America and beyond. Rest in Peace.
A-Trak – “Trizzy Turnt Up”

Here’s a fun little party starter from the always entertaining A-Trak. He seems to find a way to creatively combine all of the party elements I’m feeling… house beats, hip-hop and sing along choruses. This guy is amazing to see live, and you can sense the influence of his live performances in each of his remixes. Check him out:
Chemical Brothers – “Swoon”
Now that’s more like it!! I was a little taken aback by the first release (“Escape Velocity”) from the forthcoming album (“Further,” due out in June). “Escape Velocity” sounds like the Brothers, except… really… long. Don’t get me wrong, the guys are heading in a new direction and getting all acid-y and stuff, and the track was good.
And long. Very, very long.
But this cut right here is good stuff. Short and sweet, cool noises, nice break in the middle… this is another quality track and makes me wanna run out and buy the record the day it drops. Which I will. So should you. Enjoy.
Steve Mason of The Beta Band
Steve Mason – ‘Boys Outside’byDominoRecordCo
Here is a full preview of the new album, “Boys Outside,” from Steve Mason. For those of you who are familiar with The Beta Band (or, for those of you who heard about The Beta Band while watching the movie “High Fidelity”), you will find the tracks to be comforting and familiar. After finding this little number online, I am about to go bust out the “3 EPs” album and give it a listen tonight. It’s been too long.
“Boys Outside” is due out on June 22.
