John Lennon would have been 70 years old today. Of course, most people remember him for all of the wonderful music he gave us, and the four videos above are just a tiny sample of what he was able to accomplish. I shudder to think about what might have been, but I am thankful for everything he has shared with the world. There is no possible way that John Lennon can ever be replaced.
That being said, I prefer to remember this John Lennon instead:
This is John and his son Sean in April of 1980, which was 8 months before he was taken from us. This is John just being a normal guy; a silly father for an adoring son. This short clip reminds me why I like John Lennon so much. He’s just a normal guy, with his up and downs, trying to be a good father. He’s removed from the spotlight, showing his youngest son the kind of love and attention I try to give my son.
But, ultimately, I think this is the John we all love best:
It is in this spirit that today, on his 70th birthday, Yoko Ono Lennon is calling for everyone to Tweet for Peace. Yoko is calling for 1 million tweets to @IPTower at 8PM GMT. The Imagine Peace Tower is a work of art conceived by Yoko as a tribute to John. All tweets that are sent will be added together to show one concentrated effort of love and peace in honor of John’s birthday. Check out Yoko’s Twitter page for more information, or go to Imaginpeacetower.com to watch the lighting of the tower live.
Happy Birthday John.
