After a massive hard drive failure and a week of sweating, tears, ulcers and general stressed-out-ed-ness…
Um, yeah…
I am happy to report that all is well in the land of Mike B. I have a new hard drive, I have recovered months worth of work, and I have replaced almost every single lost application, file, mp3, picture and document, and by the end of the week I will be back to work on both forthcoming albums.
The moral of the story is ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR FILES. I’d like to think I’ve learned my lesson.
But while I was dealing with hard-drive-hell, this happened:

NEW MUSIC – Washed Out – “Eyes Be Closed”

“That Washed Out’s Ernest Greene named his Sub Pop/full-length debut ‘Within and Without’ and paired it with that above image gives you a good idea of the album’s overall sound. When not making like Usher, he left the bedroom and recorded with Ben Allen, who co-produced ‘Merriweather Post Pavillion,’ ‘Halcyon Digest,’ and ‘St. Elsewhere,’ among other things. The nine-song collection opens with Eyes Be Closed. Like most of ‘Within,’ it shimmers.”
I couldn’t agree more. Ever since I discovered Mr. Greene’s work (he wrote and recorded the hypnotic Feel It All Around, the theme song to IFC’s quirky sketch comedy show Portlandia), I have been anxiously waiting for this full length to drop. This song only adds to that anticipation.
“Within and Without” is out on 7/12/2011.
